Department of Medicine

Research Associate

Salary Range: £26,860 – £39,130 p.a.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral Research Associate position jointly supervised by Dr Enrico Petretto who leads the IntegrativeGenomics and Medicine Group at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre and Dr Michael Johnson in the Centre for Neuroscience. The postholderwill be based at the Hammersmith and Charing Cross Campuses. The project offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting edge data and leading scientists in a highly successful research environment.

The aim of the research is to identify genes and regulatory networks driving drug response in epilepsy through the integration of unique genomic, phenotypic and whole genome expression datasets in epilepsy. A primary goal of the research is to develop predictive models for drug response in epilepsy for use in clinical practice through multilevel data integration and systems-level approaches including the integration of whole genome transcription analysis with large-scale GWAS data. All clinical, genomic and expression data are already fully ascertained, so this project is ready to go.

Applications are welcome from candidates with research expertise in modern statistical and computational methods used for genetic data. The successful applicant will be able to programme effectively in a high-level language such as C++ or Java and statistical computing environment such as R or Matlab. A free scholarship programs (awarded or submitted) in a relevant subject, or equivalent research experience, is required.

Funding is available for a fixed-term period of two years in the first instance.
